The message I receive most often goes something like this: "I have always wanted to try yoga, but I am not flexible at all." If that sounds like you, good news. You are exactly who yoga is for.
The secret: nothing is required of you
A yoga class isn't an exam, and it isn't a competition. In my classes there is no goal of touching your toes or holding an impressive shape. The real work is quieter: noticing where you hold tension, where your breath goes, where today's honest limit is, and respecting it.
"Bad flexibility" is not an obstacle; it is simply a starting point. Strength and mobility arrive with practice. Attention is where everything begins.
How to prepare
- Clothes. Anything comfortable that moves with you. On the island it's warm, a light top and leggings or shorts are plenty.
- Food. Skip heavy meals for 1.5–2 hours before class.
- A mat. If you don't have one, mention it when you book and we'll sort it out.
- Water. Always, in the tropics.
- Your health. Tell me in advance about injuries, blood pressure, pregnancy or anything else. Adapting the practice for you is a normal part of my work, not an exception.
What the class itself looks like
A typical session has three parts: a gentle arrival with breathing, a main sequence of poses at a calm pace, and deep relaxation at the end. Every pose is offered in several versions, from the most accessible upward. You choose yours, and nobody is watching anyone else.
The body opens when it feels safe, never when it is forced.
Why the island makes starting easier
Warm air keeps muscles soft, the sound of the sea settles the nervous system, and holiday rhythms leave room for regularity. Many of my students took their first class here on the island and kept practising at home.
Your first step
Choose your way in: a small group class for atmosphere and an easy start, or a private session for personal attention at your own pace. Unsure? Take the one-minute quiz or just write to me.
